LAHORE, Nov 3 (EW): PTI Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan was injured after unidentified armed men opened fire during his party’s long march against government near Wazirabad on Thursday.

Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid confirmed that Khan received a bullet in his right leg, adding that his condition is out of control.

The PTI chief, who was leading the long march to Islamabad to press his demand for fresh elections in the country, has been shifted to a hospital in Wazirabad.

Reports said that firing was made near the container when PTI leaders, including Imran Khan, were present on its roof.

Four other people, including PTI leader Ahmad Chattah and Faisal Javed, were also injured in the incident.

Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi has taken notice of the firing incident near PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s container in Wazirabad and instructed the provincial IGP to submit a report after thorough investigation.

“Those behind this incident will be brought to justice soon and the injured will be provided the best medical care,” the chief minister said.
