ISLAMABAD, Dec 11 (INP): Muhammad Mamoon Jaffar Tarar, Chairperson of the Technical Educational and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) and Zhang Jianmin, CEO of MG JW Automobile Pakistan Ltd signed a strategic cooperation agreement, which marks a new chapter in the development of Pakistan’s automotive industry and automotive professional training, Gwadar Pro reported on Sunday.

On the occasion, Tarar lauded and thanked MG for bringing new high-tech products and new growth momentum to the Pakistani automotive industry.

He highlighted that the cooperation between the two parties would inevitably contribute greatly to the development of automotive technology, vocational training and employment in Punjab and the country as a whole.

Zhang said that the MG plant has been completed and has obtained the production qualification issued by the government, and will soon enter  formal production , which requires a large number of skilled workers.

He expressed his pleasure at reaching a strategic cooperation agreement with TEVTA at this juncture and receiving timely support in the recruitment of staff, which lays an important manpower foundation for the subsequent mass production of the plant.

“MG could use its expertise in the automotive sector, especially in electric vehicles, to help TEVTA develop new education and training courses in electric vehicles. It can be predicted that the cooperation between both sides will be a win-win situation,” added Zhang.

With a century-long history, MG Automobile established a joint venture with local enterprise JW Group in September 2020 and started selling the HS CBU model in Pakistan in January 2021, becoming the market leader in the local market segment.

TEVTA is the largest vocational and technical education institution in Pakistan, with 450 training facilities and 150 permanent courses. The strategic cooperation between the two sides will inject fresh momentum into Pakistan’s automotive development.
