LAHORE, Dec 20  (EW):  Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has called a meeting of party’s legal experts and senior leadership to discuss the no-confidence move filed by the opposition against Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elai.

A delegation of the PPP and PML-N provincial lawmakers submitted a no-confidence motion against Mr Elahi, Speaker Sibtain Khan, and deputy speaker Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi in the Punjab Assembly on Monday in a bid to prevent the dissolution of assembly. The PTI chief last week announced that the assemblies in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be disbanded on Dec 23.

PPP Parliamentary Leader Hassan Murtaza, PML-N’s Khawaja Imran Nazir, and PML-N Chief Whip Tahir Khalil Sindhu submitted the no-confidence motion to the Punjab Assemly Secretary Inayatullah.

The resolution stated, “Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi should seek another vote of confidence from the Punjab Assembly because he has lost the support of the House”.

Following the submission of the no-confidence motion, Governor Punjab Balighur Rehman summoned session of Punjab Assembly for the chief minister Punjab to seek vote of confidence on Dec 21.Imran Khan would review the legal perspectives of the no-confidence motion in the meeting. It would also be discussed if the governor can summon a new session when a Punjab Assembly session is already continued. The PTI chairman has asked his party’s MPAs to stay in Lahore.
