Port Qasim Power Company won CSR Stalwart Award

ISLAMABAD, Dec. 22 (INP): The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has awarded Port Qasim Electric Power Company (Pvt) Ltd (PQEPC) with the CSR STALWART Award and Power with Prosperity Award for playing a vital role to transform the socio-economic landscape of Pakistan.

According to a tweet from the Embassy of China, PQEPC won the awards from NEPRA in 2022, “ranking first among all independent power generation companies”, Gwadar Pro reported on Thursday.

Through the CSR vision of NEPRA, the authority is transforming the socio-economic landscape of the country by bringing about the most efficient and fair business practices to ensure affordable, reliable, and sustainable power services with the active engagement and development of local communities.

According to the Private Power & Infrastructure Board of the Government of Pakistan, Ministry of Energy (Power Division)’s website, PQEPC falls in the subcategory of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Sinohydro Resources Ltd. China is the main sponsor.

The gross capacity of the company is 1,320 MW and the net capacity is 1,214 MW. It used Steam Turbines technology. The US$ 1912.2 million project achieved financial close on December 22, 2015, and COD on April 25, 2018. The term of the project is 30 years.
