- CRI Pakistan chief Mr Shaheen Chen felicitates participating students for being ‘a part of history’
ISLAMABAD – In first of its kind Chinese language speech competition among students from elementary school classes, Musfirah Abrar and Iza Adeel won top positions in Primary and Elementary classes category respectively.
The Competition was organised jointly by China Radio International (CRI), Confucius Institute and Roots Millennium Schools (RMS) Islamabad here as students over 17 schools took part in the contest. Two topics were chosen for the contest i.e. Pakistan, China Friendship; and My Country Pakistan.
Mr Shaheen Chen, the head of CRI and Director of RMS Mrs Sabina Zakir were chief guests on the occasion.
In primary school category, Fatima Amir, Minahil Jamal, Hiba Rizwan and Maryam Arshad secured second positions.
Shehryar Malik, Zara Amjad Khan, Wali Ahmed, Haniya, Ayesha Abrar, Haider Ali stood third in the competition.
Among students from Grade 6-8, First position went to Inaya Kamal and Romaisa Kanwal.
Second positions went to Abdul Mohit Khan, Maryam Mahmood, Ayesha Maryam and Ayan Shahid.
Third positions were claimed by Mohammad Sabir, Wania Naveed, Ziaul Hassan, Mohammad Ali and Minahil Qadar Khan.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Shaheen Chen felicitated the participating students for being a part of history. He said that it was a special occasion for them not only to learn Chinese language but also making a speech in one of the most difficult languages of the world.
He said that Chinese language learning was not an easy task as there are various dialects of the Chinese Mandarin and at times it was even difficult for the Chinese people too to differentiate between the dialects.
Mrs Sabina Zakir said that it was a history in the making that little kids were taking a part in Chinese learning which would go a long way for them to learn Chinese language.
At the end, prizes and certificates were distributed among the contestants and judges.
