LAHORE, April 19 (EW): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will use its reach in order to create awareness regarding the need to reduce carbon emission by joining hands with Minus2Degrees (M2D), PCB chief said on Tuesday.

According to official social media account of the country’s top cricket body, as part of its corporate social responsibility, the board will promote practices that boost recycling during cricket matches with the aim of attaining net zero carbon emission.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee head Najam Sethi said that the climate change is a real threat and challenge to “our existence and it is extremely significant that we play a role in order to create awareness regarding the need to decrease carbon emission”.

Najam Sethi said that cricket is the most followed and loved sport in Pakistan and PCB has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Minus2Degrees to utilize the game’s reach for a good cause that will benefit the upcoming generations. He added that the PCB has always been supporting eco-friendly drives and they will support M2D in this regard.

The PCB chief said, “Together, we can bring changes to our society, making it a practice to utilize eco-friendly, sustainable, and recycled products to decrease pollution”,.

On the occasion, head of M2D Fawad Sarwar said that is with the utmost honor to announce a momentous collaboration between Minus2Degrees (M2D) and the PCB on their remarkable Net Zero measures.  He added, “aligning ourselves with the Pakistan Cricket Board is akin to joining hands with people of Pakistan, and we are privileged to be able to assist them in reaching the goals. He maintained that M2D’s vision is to help countries, businesses, industries, and sports organizations in adopting environmentally sustainable habits and practices that are aligned with the UN net-zero targets for 2030, and 2050.
