Islamabad, May 30 (INP): Pakistan has signed MoUs with 325 Chinese universities under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) while 581 Pakistanis have availed Chinese scholarships under the mega initiative.
This was disclosed by Dr Safdar Ali, Director General CPEC Cell at the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC), according to Gwadar Pro.
He was addressing inaugural session of 3-day international conference on sustainable food security solutions, at University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF), being held in collaboration with the South China Agriculture University (SCAU), Guangzhou and the University of Karachi, under CPEC Consortium of Universities.
Dr Safdar said that collaboration with China in agriculture sector will improve food security in Pakistan. He said that under CPEC, 113 trainings have been conducted with Chinese Universities and 19,000 individuals have been trained in Chinese language.
Prof Chen Letian, Director International Affairs, SCAU said that agricultural ties with Pakistan are being expanded, with food and environmental crisis as the areas of major concern. He said that China-Pakistan collaboration in agriculture sector will bring tangible results.
Director ORIC Dr Jafar Jaskani said that per acre agriculture production is very low in Pakistan, adding that Pakistan had excellent ties with Chinese universities for agricultural uplift.
Prof Dr Cai Kun Zheng, Deputy Dean, College of Natural Resources and Environment, SCAU said that they were actively working on the good practices to achieve Green Agriculture Development with ecological agricultural technology, biodiversity, and environment-friendly practices.
Dr John Hu from SCAU suggested replacing soybean protein with insect protein as a sustainable solution for animal and poultry feed.
