86 Killed, 151 Injured in Recent Monsoon Rains Across Pakistan: Report

LAHORE, July 11 (EW): At least six individuals tragically lost their lives, while nine others sustained injuries in the torrential downpour that ravaged the provinces of Punjab and Sindh over the past 24 hours, as reported by local media.

The monsoon rains, which have been wreaking havoc since June 25, have now escalated the nationwide death toll in Pakistan to approximately 86, with an additional 151 individuals left injured, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

The NDMA released a comprehensive report Monday evening, highlighting the grim reality that 37 children, 16 women, and 33 men have fallen victim to separate rain-related incidents across the country.

Among the affected regions, Punjab province faced the most severe damages, with a staggering 52 fatalities. Following closely behind are the provinces of  Khyber-Pakthunkhwa and Balochistan, recording 20 and six deaths respectively. Tragically, five individuals lost their lives in Sindh, while three perished in Azad Kashmir.

Furthermore, the catastrophic impact of the harsh rainfall has resulted in the destruction of 97 homes and the unfortunate demise of 46 livestock across various parts of the country, as stated in the report.
