NEW YORK: Director Greta Gerwig recently commented on the clash between the highly anticipated films ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’ during the premiere of the live-action adaptation of Barbie in Los Angeles.

As both star-studded movies are set to release on July 21, Gerwig, who directed ‘Barbie’ and co-wrote it with Noah Baumbach, acknowledged the emerging rivalry between the two productions.

During the event, Gerwig expressed a positive outlook on the situation, stating, “It’s all love — double up, double up twice.” She encouraged viewers to experience both films, suggesting they watch ‘Barbie’ and then ‘Oppenheimer’ or vice versa. “I think you’ve got to take all of the journeys,” she added.

President Barbie’s Perspective

Issa Rae, who portrays President Barbie in the film, also shared her perspective on the competition between the two movies. She found the situation hilarious and appreciated the solidarity among the cast and crew. Rae suggested watching ‘Oppenheimer’ first and then following it up with ‘Barbie.’ She humorously mentioned wanting to end her weekend on a lighter note with Barbie and enjoy mimosas and cocktails. Rae playfully teased, “That’s just my plan, as long as you’re seeing Barbie, I don’t care.”

Both ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’ are set to debut in theaters on July 21, providing viewers with the opportunity to enjoy these diverse cinematic experiences.
