ISLAMABAD, May 15 (EW): A week-long door-to-door anti-polio immunisation campaign has been started in various Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan districts on Monday.
According to the health department, trained polio workers will go door-to-door in various districts nationwide to administer polio vaccine to children under the age of five years.
According to the details, more than two million children who are under five years of age will be administered polio vaccine in 12 districts of Punjab, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Bhakkar, DG Khan, Multan, Layyah, Mianwali, Muzaffargarh, Sheikhupura, Rajanpur, and Rahim Yar Khan.
Over seven hundred thousand children will be vaccinated with anti-polio drops in Sindh’s Hyderabad and Larkana districts. In 18 districts of Balochistan, over 1.2 million children under five would be administered anti-polio drops.
Due to unknown reasons, the government has delayed the anti-polio campaign in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to the following week. Federal Minister for Health Abdul Qadir Patel said in a statement that a campaign would be held in seven districts of South Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa from May 29 to June 5, and more than 100,000 trained polio workers are participating in the recent campaign nationwide.
