Amid coronavirus pandemic, Indian army in occupied Kashmir on Friday violated the ceasefire and targeted civilian areas using heavy artillery along the ceasefire line in Neelum valley.
Sources said that the Indian army is targetting the civilian population in Athmuqam, Shahkot, Salkhala and other areas of Neelum Valley. The Pakistan army, they said, is effectively responding to the ceasefire violation.
The unprovoked Indian shelling has forced many residents in these villages to flee and take refuge at safer places.
The sources said that the Indian forces also targetted a mosque in the area leaving it damaged.
The residents said that the shelling is very intense and it is going on for the last several hours. They said that the shelling is so intense that entire area neighbourhood has shaken.
The shelling continues days after Kashmiri fighters killed eight Indian army personnel including para-commandos near the ceasefire line. Five fighters were also killed n the firing.
