ISLAMABAD, May 9 (EW): The government has increased the interest rates of different National Saving Schemes.

According to a notification, the interest rate on Special Savings Certificate has been enhanced from 13.10 percent to 17.13 percent. Similarly, the interest rate on Savings Accounts has been increased from 18.50 percent to 19.50 percent.

The rate of return on one-year short-term savings certificates has been increased from 19.82 percent to 20.80 percent. The rate of interest on 6-month short-term savings certificates has been hiked from 19.64 percent to 20.82 percent.

The rate of return on three-month short-term saving certificates has been revised to 20.84 percent from 19.92 percent. While the government has decided to keep the rate of return on Defence Savings Certificates and the profit of Pensioners, Welfare and Martyrs’ families Certificates unchanged at 14.87 percent and 16.56 percent respectively. The interest rate on the Regular Income Certificate will also remain unchanged at 12.84 percent.
