Srinagar: Kashmiri fighters on Saturday evening mounted an attack on Central Reserve Police Force in Sopore area of northern Kashmir’s Baramulla district killing three and injuring two others.
Police sources in Sopore said that the militants attacked a bullet-proof-vehcile that the occupying forces were travelling in at Noorbagh near Ahad Bab crossing.
They said that five CRPF personnel were injured in the attack.
The injured personnel were shifted to a nearby medical facility where two CRPF men were declared brought dead while the third personnel died in a military hospital later.
The regions Director General of Police (DGP) who is selected by New Delhi, Dilbagh Singh (IPS) confirmed to a government backed news agency GNS that three CRPF personnel were killed and two others including the driver injured in the attack.
The three slain Indian forces personnel have been identified as Rajeev Sharma, F/No. 015202662 HC/GD, a resident of Vaishali, Bihar; C. B. Bhakare, F/No. 041639015 Ct/GD, a resident of Buldhana, Maharashtra; Parmar Stayapal Singh, F/No. 145250539 Ct/GD, a resident Sabarkantha, Gujarat. The injured have been identified as Javid Ahmed Amin, F/No. 031524625 Ct/Dvr; Biswajit Ghosh, F/No. 941442737 HC/GD. Both the injured have suffered bullet injuries and have been shifted to 92 Base military hospital in Srinagar.
