ISLAMABAD, November 03 (INP-WealthPK): Recommendations have been forwarded by the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Industries and Production for the withdrawal of “The Exports Processing Zones Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2019.”
The decision was made in a meeting of the Standing Committee on Industries and Production under the chairmanship of Member National Assembly (MNA), Ghulam Mustafa, as the committee met to discuss various issues related to the ministry and its departments.
The committee was appreciative of the SME policy of 2021 and declared that it will help the youth to start their own businesses and to improve the environment for business in the country. The committee said, “it is important that the government keeps introducing such policies as they will help in economic growth, reducing unemployment and alleviating poverty.”
The committee also directed the ministry to learn from the examples of China and Bangladesh. The committee said, “the ministry should work on increasing the opportunities for youth to start their own business. They should be given easy loans so that they can invest and start their own business. Financial institutions should be taken on board for this purpose.”
The committee laid a lot of stress on public engagement so that people should come to know about the SME policy, 2021. “Especially those people who live in far-off areas should be reached and informed about the policy and its intended beneficiaries. The main features of the policy like the elimination of middlemen should be highlighted,” the committee emphasized.
Secretary, Ministry of Industries and Production apprised the committee about the efforts being undertaken to bring the benefits of the policies of the ministry at gross-roots level by easing the procedural complications for small and medium businessmen.
MNA, Mahar Irshad Ahmad Khan; MNA, Usama Qadri; MNA, Kiran Imran Dar; MNA, Nawab Sher and MNA/mover Saira Bano, also attended the meeting in addition to officials from the ministry.
