ISLAMABAD, Dec. 01 (INP-WealthPK)– The Agriculture Department has sought applications from sugarcane producers for a production competition. Farmers possessing 5 acres to 25 acres of cultivatable land in 13 districts of Punjab are eligible to apply until January 4, 2023.
A spokesman of the Agriculture (Extension) Department said that the growers of 13 districts of Punjab including Faisalabad, Jhang, Chiniot, Toba Tek Singh, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Mandi Bahauddin, Kasur, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Rajanpur, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan can contest the sugarcane production competition.
The government would provide a financial assistance of Rs30,000 to growers for a sugarcane plot of one acre, and farmers selected through balloting would have to cultivate sugarcane crops on experimental plots in accordance with departmental recommendations, he said.
Application forms, he said, are freely accessible in the offices of the (extension)agricultural officer and assistant director, and they may also be downloaded from the website (www.agripunjab.gov.pk).
