CALIFORNIA, Mar 27 (EW): Twitter Inc, owned by billionaire Elon Musk, is seeking information on the person responsible for leaking parts of its source code, according to a legal filing.
The code used to run the social media platform was posted on the Microsoft-owned platform Github by a user named ‘FreeSpeechEnthusiast’. The filing stated that “various excerpts” of the source code were leaked. The data has been taken down from Github.
Twitter has filed a request with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California to compel Github to provide “all identifying information” related to the user name ‘FreeSpeechEnthusiast’. Github has not commented on the matter or how long Twitter’s source code had been publicly accessible.
