ISLAMABAD, November 08, (INP-WealthPK): A memorandum of understanding has been signed for collaboration in applied research between University of Engineering (UET) Peshawar and Dynea Pakistan Ltd.
A signing ceremony was arranged in which Professor Dr Iftikhar Hussain, Vice Chancellor of UET and General Manager, Dynea Ltd, Mirza Hussain signed for the respective sides, according to a press release received by WealthPK.
According to the press release the purpose of the collaboration is to bring academia and industry together to breed innovation and growth in the technical sector of the country.
It added that the process will help in furthering industrial development in the chemical processing industry and related fields through joint research projects, trainings and student internships.
The Vice Chancellor said that, “following the directions of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) all engineering programs are accredited with the Washington Accord’s Outcome Based Education System. UET has also secured top position in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Pakistan under the Times Higher Education (THE) World Impact Rankings 2022.”
Hussain for his part said, “Dynea Ltd is a multinational company based in Norway. It is a leading manufacturer of adhesive and surfacing solutions in Pakistan, operational in Hub, Balochistan and Gadoon, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”
He said that the company produces and sells formaldehyde, urea and adhesives, moulding compounds and glazing powder. It employs 400 people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “Most of our employees are engineers from the UET. This MoU will further strengthen the collaboration between industry and academia,” he added,
Secretary BOASAR, UET Peshawar, Dr Hamid Ullah emphasized on the Dynea Ltd to participate in the Industrial Advisory Boards of the relevant departments so that linkages between academia and industry could be strengthened.
He added that it was crucial for business leaders to give presentations as part of the OBE system so that students’ interpersonal skills might be improved before entering the world of work.
Dr Misbah Ullah, the university’s treasurer, said that the university is developing best human capital and employs the latest research techniques to support businesses in subjects like automation and renewable energy.
The director of ORIC UET, Dr Nasru Minallah, stated that ORIC would continue to forge connections between industry and academia and that local industry would receive special consideration.
