Yumna Zaidi is making her feature film debut with Nayab, an upcoming film that revolves around cricket .
Zaidi shared a minute-long clip of the motion poster on Instagram on Wednesday and wrote that the idea and making of the film is “close” to her heart.
The video shared by Parizaad actor zooms in on a cricket ball with bullets on the ground, a bat and a wicket. The actor was heard saying, “Akka, tum dekhna, aik din poori dunya ko kehte sunno gai. Naam yaad rakhna* [Akka, one day you’ll hear the world say it. Remember the name],” with loud cheers in the background — perhaps at a cricket match?
“The team is absolutely great and accommodating. Right now I am at the training for couple of months, working for this project,” Zaidi told Images.
“This [Nayab] character is about a girl who is passionate about cricket, trying to reach a certain point with her brother’s help as she struggles. He helms her reach her dreams,” she explained.
The film is directed by Umair Nasir Ali and also stars Jawed Sheikh and M Fawad Khan who was last seen as Abdullah in Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam for Zee5.
Nayab is being produced by Rumina Umair and Umair Irfani. Its executive producers are Agnes and David Kenney of Kenneyz Films and the screenplay is by Ali Abbas Naqvi who previously penned Mansha Pasha and Ahmed Ali Akbar’s Laal Kabootar.
